High quality residential and day services for Adults with Learning Disabilities
The 'Friends of Oakdown Trust' is an independent charity formed by interested relatives, friends of residents and staff. To date the charity through fundraising & donations has raised over £38,000 for the benefit of our residents.
The trust meet several times each year to discuss ways in which the group can take an active role in supporting the home. This help takes the form of financial assistance with special projects and purchase of equipment. In recent years the charity has provided for specialist sensory & IT equipment, garden furniture, entertainment excursions to theatres & many other items.
Each year an Open Day is held by the Friends at Oakdown House. Family, friends and the wider community are invited to join residents and staff at Oakdown House to join in an afternoon of fun events which enables residents to showcase their achievements throughout the year, be it exhibiting works of art & woodwork or plants & flowers cultivated in our gardens..
The current board of trustees are made up of Directors, Staff (past & present), Residents & Relatives, giving the board a broad range of perspective.
